School Visits

Our students don't just reach for the starts for the stars- they visit them!

Costs and benefits

  • ​Have one of our Discovery Dome Mobile Planetariums visit your school and provide an exciting on site experience for your students. There is no need to take your students off timetable and we can slot into your school timings. 
  • Dome shows typically last between 45 to 55 minutes, depending on timetable, age and ability. We charge $90 per student for our visits however we do have a minimum visit charge. To view our pricing structure for various types of visits click here.
  • All programmes are delivered by Mr Lorne Ali a former Kellett Teacher for 16 years.

Where and how do we fit

  • We fit perfectly into school halls, sports halls, squash courts, atria, performing arts theaters, drama studios, or any other reasonably high ceilinged rooms please check out our room requirements.
  • Shows involve audience interaction and opportunities to ask questions and are designed to make science exciting, inspiring and easy to handle.
  • We will tailor make every show to cover your learning outcomes-share your scheme of learning and where you want us to come into your topic, e.g. an early provocation or a later plenary session.

What's included

  • ​We include one full dome movie in each session. We can also incorporate computer generated imagery of planets and moons to allow the teaching of day and night and the seasons and the phases of the moon if requested. We can take a detailed tour our solar system, we investigate stars, galaxies and black holes.
  • We can look at how human life would have to adapt to live elsewhere and we can look at whether there may be life elsewhere. We can investigate change, the history of events on Earth from volcanoes to the death of dinosaurs.
  • We are very flexible in our approach and offer shows suitable for all ages from 4 years old to adult.​

  • We have numerous popular fully immersive full dome shows. Suggested age ranges are also given. We have other material that we can tailor make into shows to suit your learning outcomes. It is best to contact Discovery Dome and we can advise you on the best show for your school.

Our shows

All shows are led by an experienced presenter and include a full dome immersive 360 degree movie, as well as computer generated imagery. We have numerous presentations that can be adapted to suit a range of ages.
We prefer to collaborate alongside schools and produce something that is suited to your learning outcomes. Do let us know the age, ability, background of your group so we can cater for their needs.
